Blake's 7 Fanclubs

Information about fan clubs that are either totally or partially Blake's 7.

If you wish to add information about fanclubs please contact me (Judith) at Judith@Blakes-7.com and I'll add you to this page.

Horizon - The Blake's 7 Appreciation Society.

Founded in 1980, club providing A4 size 90+ page, colour cover magazine containing interviews, letters of comment, articles, news on the cast etc. Also a letterzine, and a vast range of merchandise (including photos, scripts, notepads, mugs, badges, etc.), and regular London and regional meetings and outings.

Horizon on the web:

The Avon Club
The official fan club of Paul Darrow, founded in 1980. A friendly club for fans of Avon and those wishing to keep in touch with Paul's career. Run with the full co-operation of Paul and Janet Darrow. The club produces 4 A5 sized newsletters a year, a merchandise list, a membership card, plus a small booklet on Paul's career. A number of zines are available including several by Ros Williams and Judith Seaman, and a range of laser posters of Avon, Blake's 7 Marvel comics and plenty of photographs of Paul as Avon, information on a lot of these is available.

Southern Group
We're primarily a B7 fan club but we include other SF fandoms. We usually spend our meetings chatting about shows, but we sometimes go out to the theatre, do script readings, have a quiz or anything else that seems like a good idea.

I'll post the date of the next meeting/venue here when I remember, but most meetings are in the Poole/Bournemouth area. If you don't see a date here, just ask.

Judith

London Group
As you know (as some of you have come along!) A group of London-based fans of Avon in particular and Blakes 7 in general have started to arrange regular meet-ups. For those of you who run fanzines/websites, we'd be very greatful if you could help us to advertise future dates so that anyone who wants to can join us. To the rest of you on the list, please just come along!

Venue: Shakespeare's Head.
Place: 64-68 Kingsway (Africa House) - 50 Yards down from Holborn Tube (Turn left towards Aldwych) (Central and Piccadilly Lines)

Basically we have outgrown the available space in the Wardour Street pub so after much searching and personal investigation (hic) we found this one (Thanks Brian).

All the same advantages (Cheap drinks, food till after 10, still central London etc.) plus much bigger Family/Non smoking/food area at the back and much easier to integrate the smokers without sending them to the back of beyond for a quick drag..

We meet on the first or second Friday evening of every month.

Wakefield
I am desperate to contact other B7 fans in my area for drinks, chat and mutual appreciation of Paul Darrow. Can you please add my details to your web site. I live in the West Yorkshire area (Wakefield, Huddersfield, Leeds) and my email address is sarah@residenceone.fsnet.co.uk.

Thanks
Sarah Wright

ORAC
Organized Rebel Adventurers' Club

ORAC was founded in 1987 by Sandy Williams. It was started as a fan club for Blake's 7, and has now expanded its focus to include other shows such as Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Babylon 5 and The X-Files among others. ORAC is based in Dallas, Texas, but has members worldwide.

ORAC is still around. We've branched out into other fandoms such as Babylon 5, The X-Files, etc., in addition to B7.

We meet (usually) the first Saturday of the month at members' homes throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Annual dues are $12 in the US, US$13 in Canada, and US$18 elsewhere, for which you receive a few issues of _Tarriel Cell_, a spiffy membership card, and a 10% discount at a local comics/SF/memorabilia shop.

New Horizons
Australian club producing quarterly newsletter for British SF (plus Babylon 5)

Wew dont have up to date contact info.
