The total solar eclipse of July 11 2010 will be visible across the Pacific Ocean, and in the tip of South America. It will last over 5 minutes at maximum, and will be visible over a path up to 259 km wide.
The total eclipse begins north-east of New Zealand at 18:15:15 UT, and ends in Patagonia at 20:51:42 UT. The maximum eclipse is at 19:33:34 UT, when the total phase will last over 5 minutes. The partial eclipse will be visible over the southern Pacific and southern South America between 17:09:40 UT and 21:57:16 UT.

The path of the total eclipse passes through the Polynesian islands around 18:20 to 18:50 UT. The path is widening as it does, from about 200km wide to almost 250km, and the duration of the total eclipse increases from 3 minutes 15 seconds to 4 minutes 43 seconds on the centreline.
The total eclipse ends as the Sun touches the horizon at 20:51:42 UT, in the south-eastern Pacific Ocean off Chile. However, the Sun is still fully eclipsed as it sets, and will be visible in southern Chile and Argentina. The path is down to 183km wide here, but the eclipse will still last 2 minutes 45 seconds, making a stunning "black Sunset".
