Total Solar Eclipse: June 29 1927



The total solar eclipse of June 29 1927 was visible across the UK, Scandinavia, the Arctic Ocean, and far eastern Russia. This was a narrow, marginal eclipse, lasting over ½ a minute at maximum and visible over a path just 77 km wide.

The total eclipse began south-west of the UK at 05:20:23 UT, and ended in the north Pacific at 07:25:40 UT. The maximum eclipse was at 06:23:02 UT, when the total phase lasted over ½ a minute. The partial eclipse was visible over Europe and Asia between 05:20:01 UT and 07:25:57 UT.

The total eclipse narrowly missed Ireland, and reached Wales at 05:23 UT. The path was 44km wide here, and the total eclipse lasted 20 seconds on the centreline.

The total eclipse then whipped quickly over England and reached the North Sea at 05:25 UT.
