AT THE SIGN OF THE SHADY TREE

- WHERE TELLERS OF TALES MAY MEET -

In the Middle Ages, travelling storytellers would journey from village to village, collecting an audience and then entertaining them with tales. The Storyteller would choose a position in the centre of the village, usually the village green and would fly a banner to indicate that the entertainment was about to begin. The largest tree on the green would provide welcome shelter and shade for the Storyteller and his listeners. We, of The Escape Committee, aim to recreate those times.

DAY 7

FIREPOWER (Garrison's Gorillas) ANN FLIN

"They are testing again," Franz informed Garrison. "I thought you might like to see."

Garrison and Franz went to the window and looked out. In the distance, they could see a huge fire, lighting up the sky.

"What sort of weapon could do that?" Queried Garrison.

I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD! (The Equalizer) DEE CROFT

McCall could remember previous occasions, when Mickey had come back from assignments, still full of energy and adrenaline. Kostmayer was almost always convinced that he was immortal, but it rarely lasted longer than a few hours before he came back down to earth. The trick was always to keep him from attempting anything too adventurous, before he came down and got back to his ‘normal' lifestyle. MISSION OR FRIENDSHIP (Mission Impossible/Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea) ANN FLIN

"Will she, Mr Phelps?" queried Phillips. "Has she really got that same commitment as you? Think about this, Mr Phelps. Who had the opportunity of destroying the explosives? They were never left alone. Who's been spreading doubts as to the safety of this sub? Who wanted to know where the escape hatches were as soon as they came on board? I couldn't have done this all on my own. I must have had some help. Who do you think it was who's been helping me? Who was late in arriving for your briefing? Just think about it, Mr Phelps."

ALSO INCLUDES: StarGate SG-1, interview, alternative authors, a quiz and a sequel to The Tempest by Shakespeare.

DAY 8

AND SO IT BEGINS (Original) ANN FLIN

The stench filled my nostrils every time I breathed. Loud explosions assaulted my ears. In the distance, a voice could be heard shouting instructions.

"If you smell gas, shout down the line! And put on your gas masks!"

TO BE A GOD (War Of The Worlds/High Chaparral) ANN FLIN

Before Ironhorse could stop her, Zoe slipped away. A few minutes later, Ironhorse quietly swore, as he spotted a large fiery shape of a Phoenix in the sky. The drumming stopped, as the Indians looked up. The Phoenix swooped down, its talons outstretched.

KINDRED - Part 2 (StarGate SG-1) DEE CROFT

Alexander helped O'Neill to his feet, holding him back with a firm grip on his shoulder, when he thought that the General was going to go back into the cavern. "Let him do it." He said. Kawalsky was still driving the creature backwards - towards the outline of Thor's Hammer. "I think he knows that the Goa'uld is the only thing strong enough to fight this!"

ALSO INCLUDES: missing scenes from CI5 - The New Profesionals, original stories, quiz, interview and articles.

DAY 9

A NEW BEGINNING? (Tomorrow People/StarGate SG-1) ANN FLIN

"You're making a big mistake here," shouted a man, as he was pushed into a dark cell. "My friends will get me out! And then I'm gonna kick some butt!"

RIVALS (Mission Impossible/The Equalizer) ANN FLIN

A sequel to Mission Or Friendship.

Control got into the back of the cab. As he did so, the driver turned round and fired at Control. A dart pierced Control's arm and as the drug entered his blood system, Control slumped forward, losing consciousness. As Toni heard a quiet muffled sound, she spun round. As she did so, a man stepped out from the car that had been following them and drew out a gun. As Toni reached for her gun, she knew she was too late. The man fired. Toni spun round, dropping to the ground, her gun falling from her hand. The man walked over and kicked Toni over onto her back. Blood trickled from a head wound. The man aimed at Toni and began to pull the trigger.

RESTLESS MAGIC (Original) ANN FLIN

The horse raised its head, its ears flicking back and forth, as it tried to pinpoint the stealthy sound of the hunter. It stood motionless, the wind blowing through its mane, stirring it gently, the moonlight highlighting the white of his coat. His mares grazed nearby, unaware of the danger lurking close to the herd, confident in the protection of their leader.

ALSO INCLUDES: poetry, quiz, articles, original stories and continuation of stories in previous issues.
